Famous Last Words: I'm so close!

Image
I can't believe I only have six weeks left! I remember my first semester like it was a few days ago. Then I transferred to OU and here I am about to have a Bachelor's Degree under my belt! It's crazy how fast time flies! Part of me is going to miss the whole school thing but I think I'm ready to close that chapter of my life after these four years. I'm happy with the growth I've made not only academically, but socially and the amount that I've come out of my shell and learned to socialize with people. I don't dread huge family gatherings anymore. This semester I'm making a quilt top to make an instruction set for my Capstone class, and of course, I'm making a super fun storybook in this class! This class has been loads of fun, though overwhelming with commenting. It's okay though, the feedback is important, whether I'm giving it or receiving it. I think that's my top two projects this semester... but who knows the semester isn...

Week 10 Story Lab

Writing by Adam Cleaver I decided to scroll through  http://www.advicetowriters.com/   and found myself excited about all of the quotes. I couldn't stop scrolling.  My favorite quote: " Our minds and souls contain volumes inscribed by our experiences and emotions; each individual's consciousness is a collection of memories we've cataloged and stored inside us, a private library of a life lived. It is something that no one else can entirely share, one that burns down and disappears when we die. But if you can take something from that internal collection and share it--with one person or with the larger world, on the page or in a story recited--it takes on a life of its own. " SUSAN ORLEAN I have always wondered about sharing my experiences through writing. I want to. And since I lost my best friend it's even more true to me that everything in her mind that wasn't shared is lost forever.

Reading Notes: Krishna Epified Videos Pt 2

Image
In this section of the series, Krishna gets to meet back with his parents in the cell they have been locked in for years. He fulfills his destiny and stays within that kingdom. I think if I were to tackle a story on any of this, it would be about the reunion with his parents. Their feelings and acceptance once it registers with them that their son is standing in front of them and has set them free. That it was all worth it. Reading Notes: Krishna Epified Videos

Image
I decided that since my massive project is about the son of Krishna I would do some of my reading this week over Krishna. Well, assignment since I watched videos. Just watching this first portion was enjoyable. I can see how I can spin some of Krishna's characteristics into his son's character and I think that will be a lot of fun. But: Krishna's mom has a brother who is essentially evil. He is told that the eighth child of his sister will be the end to him. He freaks out and wants to kill the couple but instead locks them up in prison and smashes every baby they have. The seventh baby is transferred from her womb to elsewhere, assuming this will be important later? Then: the eighth baby is conceived, born, and somehow everyone is asleep as the father takes the infant out of the prison. Krishna is raised by another woman. He sucks the life out of Putana as she attempts to feed him her poisonous milk. As a child, he's a bit rambunctious. Stealing lots of butter...
