Famous Last Words: Missing My Best Friend

I wanted to use this last word option this week to remind myself now and later what I’ve been through and that I’m still okay. Last week I found out that my best friend of eleven years took her life. I was a week ahead in this class until I got the news. I’m thankful that I’ve been able to keep going, but goodness that was hard. I think I want to just talk about some memories and who she was a person.
Every day I think of something new that I want to talk to her about. I mean we talked about so much over eleven years and that’s who I want to go to. I want to talk to her about my job, about the customers I deal with, my co-workers. She worked there first and it’s crazy that I can never gripe about everything with her again.
She loved green beans. Really, I think she lived off of those. Once we were watching a show together and we passed a bowl of green beans back and forth. That was our snack. She showed me the video games Orochi and Animal Crossing. Not that I play video games very much, but I’ll forever connect those to her.
She loved her books and her cat. She introduced me to so many books. We became friends when we were in fifth grade and she basically shoved all her favorite books at me and made me read them. She introduced me to Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. Then in junior high, we found mangas like Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, and Fairy Tail.

I always talked to her about my boy problems, though she never had much of those. I was usually the one to jump head first into something and she was more cautious because she just didn’t care as much about boys or the like. And that was just her and I miss her every day.

  1. I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. I will be keeping you in my thoughts as this week goes by. It is always hard losing someone you love, but I want you to know that I am here to support you. I think the picture of the green beans is beautiful because of those moments you shared with your friend. The way you described your friend, she sounds like a great person who has impacted peoples lives. If you need someone to talk to about it, I and other people are here to listen. Keeping you in my thoughts.
